The Liner, Falmouth
- Location: Falmouth, Cornwall
- Client:
- Project Cost: £500,000
Situated in Falmouth, ‘The Liner’ is a fifty-two apartment and penthouse complex with distinct design and high-spec features that offers the very best in contemporary coastal living. Each apartment will be able to enjoy uninterrupted, south-facing sea views over award-winning Gyllyngvase Beach through the 600 linear metres of fascia mounted, frameless glass balustrades over all seven floors, including the ground floor communal areas. Overall, this project ran for two years from start to finish while the design of the various balustrade styles was carried out.
The entrance to the building is framed by stainless steel, mirror-polished posts and handrails with glass infills. This type of balustrading is perfect for this location. With it being fabricated from 316 grade, stainless steel, it should stand the test of the Atlantic weather. In the stairwells, we fabricated 100 metres of mild steel, powder coated flat bar, and top and bottom rail balustrade.
Each of the apartments is separated by 2m high laminated privacy panes. Each of the privacies had various widths to suit the design of the balconies, which changed between each one to suit the ship-like design of the building. Our teams had to battle with the weight of these panes in harsh conditions most of the year.
